Secure Licensing Approvals For Pipelines And Facilities From The Alberta Energy Regulator
A new regulatory course will help those who submit applications to build or operate pipelines and facilities in Alberta’s oil and gas sector avoid common errors and maximize AER application approvals.
Taught by three regulatory experts – Alanda Allum, Mark Taylor and Rob Cruickshank – the upcoming Directive 56 course will focus on the processes, common errors when submitting applications and changes to the Pipeline Act.
Allum said the course is designed to assist licensees in navigating the complexities of the system, minimizing resubmissions, denials, delays in AER’s licensing process, and potential statement of concerns filed against applications.
Directive 56 has many tools, rules, and procedures, but there might be additional approvals or licenses from other government agencies in certain cases, she added.
“It is a very complex system for someone just entering the oil and gas industry and may find the application process overwhelming,” said Allum. “We will help provide you understand Directive 56 and governmental requirements and procedures.”
This September 24 course (live via ZOOM) is essential for oil and gas operators navigating regulatory hurdles and seeking to streamline the application process.
Students will learn the key regulatory requirements that impact licensing of pipelines and facilities and gain valuable insight into the interconnected nature of the AER’s multiple regulatory instruments and learn from case studies. The course outlines the process of filing licence applications and what licensees can expect next – including realistic AER timelines and possible requests for supplemental information requests.
Allum said there is an expectation for licensees to have the necessary information readily available, but often they do not. This could lead to delays and potential non-compliance issues, which may lead to their inclusion on the AER compliance dashboard.
