2022 Capex Trends: Licensing Uptick Continues, Despite B.C. Drop


Producers across Canada licensed 341 wells in February 2022 — up from 323 a year ago — while once again no new wells were approved in British Columbia.

It’s now been seven months since any new wells were permitted in B.C.

The province continues to work with the Blueberry River First Nations (BRFN) on a way to improve and modernize provincial processes that recognize and respect their treaty rights.
